Snowy Day

Well it was a pretty snowy day here in Austin in which I didn’t get to see much off because I was inside working.  It was kind of hard to believe that just two days ago it was 76 degrees and beautiful.

We didn’t get very good photos of the snow, was hard to see in picture but my son shot a little video of some of it outside of our apartment  Austin Snow 2/23/2010

My Sunday Walk

I decided today when I went to HEB to walk and instead of ride. I had seen a few of the houses in Hyde Park but never really seen many of them. I really love old houses especially the ones in this neighborhood. Most of the home that I seen where on 40th, 41st, 42nd street areas.

I saw so many beautiful homes, I never knew there was so many in this area.  The houses were all frame houses (a few brick) and so many different colors, beautiful yards and very quiet, seems to be my ideal place to live one day, maybe.

Funny, being a paranormal investigator, I wondered as I walked through if any were haunted and how I would love to investigate in this area if any were. Another reason why I would love to live in one of these homes, old, beautiful, quiet, and possibly haunted, my kind of place.

I didn’t get the chance to take any photos as I walked through but I am sure you can find some online.

All is better!

After having been sick for the past week, I think it is finally going away. Sore throat, coughing, sneezing, chest cold, head cold, running nose all at the same time is no fun, all I wanted to do is sleep. I don’t remember ever being sick like this for this long, except having the flu once back in 1992. People say its the allergies here in Austin (maybe so) but seems it’s something that is  going around,  pretty fast and bad, some are even loosing there voices, mine just sounded funny.

Anyways, I am glad to be feeling better and I am looking forward to spring, for the warmer weather, not for the allergies that it will bring.

Smooth Away

I hate shaving my legs, I think it’s been about a month (I know, my bad).  I decided to start using Nair but it irritates my skin. I have been seeing this “Smooth Away” on television, so I decided to give it a try.

I read the directions (they make it sound so easy) and thought this is gonna be great.  It took about 30-45 minutes to get all the hair off of my legs (which needed a weed wacker) and it made my legs really soft and smooth.  I still have a little bit that I missed but the majority of it is gone. I am sure the next time I use it, it will be better since I am not gonna wait so long in between and I am sure it works better when it’s short, but we will see. I also used the smaller one above my upper lip and it worked pretty good.

This product worked for me but maybe not for everyone, so I give it about an 8.

90 Minutes in Heaven by Don Piper

I first learned of this book a couple a months ago when my teenage son told me that he wanted me to buy it for him as he had heard the story from one of his teachers. I bought the book for him and decided to read it myself when he was done.

I just finished reading this book tonight and realized that I am glad to have heard of this book. It is truley a remarkable story.

The author of the book “Don Piper” was in a car accident back in 1989 and had died for 90 minutes and then lived to tell his story of being in heaven. This book is  a wonderful book and I would recommend others to read it.

My sister went to Dallas here a few weeks ago and met with Don Piper and heard his story in person. She learned of another book he had written and he autographed a copy and she gave it to me, it’s called “Christmas Miracles” and I am about to start reading it very soon.

Here are the links to these 2 books and I hope you get the chance to read them.

Almost Break Time

Well it’s almost time for the kiddos to be out for the holidays and of course my time to sleep a little past 5am or a lot. It is funny how this year just flew on by.

I have already got my shopping done for my 2 boys. Is it wrong that I told my husband (just out of the blue) that I wanted a Wii (I’m such a kid), was just kidding but knowing him he will go and get one, but hey, I will settle for the “Old Atari” that was brought back on the market haha, was very addicted to those games back in the good ole’ days :)

Now it’s time to get the house in order and things ready for next week so if I don’t get around to posting again before Christmas, I want to wish everyone A Merry Christmas and  A Happy New Year!

Santa Bring My Soldier Home

I was listening to a local radio station this morning and they were talking about this song and I decided to look it up and see what it was all about.

I found the website and on there, you can download the song and make your own video from it. This is a great thing for people out there who have loved ones over seas this holiday season.

Michael Jackson – This is it

I had the opportunity to go see the Michael Jackson Movie tonight after winning a couple of tickets off Facebook from one of the local radio stations here in Tyler.
The movie was great. It was funny and well put together with all the scenes of MJ rehearsing for his shows.  I was so happy to have gotten to see this movie while it is still at the theaters and I am sure I will purchase the DVD when it comes out. Michael Jackson was my idol back when I was in high school in the 80’s, I can remember listening to “Billy Jean” all the time and also always watching the “Thriller” video on MTV.

I was very sad to hear of his Passing back in June 2009 and he will be greatly missed. R.I.P MJ!

Thank you @Hot1073jamzfor the tickets to see the movie.

Walmart Sells Caskets

I remember when Walmart was just a retail store (not a Super Center). Today you can get pretty much buy anything there without going all over town.  I guess I am “old school” because I liked it when I could go to Walmart for household items and  Brookshires for my groceries, well I pretty much still do.

A few days ago I learned of Walmart selling Caskets online and thought that was just about the stupidest thing I have ever heard. Are they getting so greedy that they have to go sell everything ever made by man? I would not want to go online and purchase a casket from them, just does not seem right, or is it just me.

What next Walmart, real estate and automobiles, or has that already happened too? Sure hope not!
